"To the Household of . . ."

I’ve noticed recently that when I get mail from my various investment companies it’s no longer addressed to me personally, but to my “household.” Is there a reason why they’re all doing this, and does this give anyone in my “household” the right to open my mail?

Just a WAG -

It’s your invetment company being touch-feely. They want you to think that they care about you emotionally, and they’re re-inforcing in you the belief that your investments aren’t yours, but your whole family’s. (Because, you know, if you die, your wife & kids get the money in your investment accounts.)
