Ok. I understand the point the “fat” as a pointless insult viewpoint are expressing and I do agree with them to a large degree. Also, too many times the “anti-PC” rants are shorthand for “let me any dumb-ass offensive thing I want without any responses”. Zoe do we really need to hash this out again? I do support your position, but when you try to equate to the persecution faced by the victims of racial, religious or sexual orientation you are actually losing quite a bit of support. The two are not the same, and fortunately never will be. When you make your case on its own merits rather then trying to equate your issue to those who have faced decades if not centuries of brutal repression, murder and slavery you stand a much better chance of making your point.

Lezlers, I was going to leave it as it was, but decided to clear a couple of things up.
First of all, I am not gunning for you, really. There is only one person on this board that I actively can not stand. I have this person on ignore because no matter what he has to say, whether it be vacation plans or the type of toilet paper he buys, I don’t want to hear it because I just don’t give a shit what he has to say.
Other than that, I usually base my opinions on what a poster writes, how they interact with others, and how they appear in general. Some things I absolutely do not agree with and other things I do. I have gotten into some pretty heavy arguments with someone only to step into another thread with them and laugh and joke about something we do agree with.
In other words, most of the time I pretty much take it post by post, not by whose name it is posted under.
Sometimes, like now, I see something that I think is hypercritical or wrong and just assholish. At first I may ignore it, then I might start rolling my eyes, the third or forth time I may start getting annoyed, and then I will probably get to the point that I say something and maybe even hijack a thread to do so. I may like you as a person, but I don’t like the things you may write.
Maybe the two of us like the same type of threads or maybe it is just a coincidence, but lately I seem to have opened more than a few threads that you have posted to (believe me, it wasn’t intentional). Almost every single one includes a comment from you telling people to “lighten up”, “get over it” or “pull the stick out of their ass”. You dismiss every opinion that is different from yours with the generic but insulting assumption that these people need a life. You appoint yourself the authority of what is and what is not a valid argument then stand in the middle of the room screaming at people to shut up when you are the one doing all the talking.
Don’t misconstrue this as me telling you what you can or can not write. I think we all understand that anything written on this board is open to comment. You may be a very nice person, I dunno. What I don’t like is how you come across on the boards. Hijack or not, I saw enough of it to finally say something.

well, as I let it be known in the “white trash” thread I start in IMHO, I don’t like the use of the term. It reflects more poorly on the person using it than the person being described. But that’s my opinion.
I don’t want to derail this thread by getting on a soapbox so I’ll bow out now.

Are you suggesting that, lacking the righteous indignation of the “Professional Offenderati”, fat-bashers would still be derailing thread after thread arguing their right to use the word “fat” however they want? I just don’t see them as the source of all the screeching.
It certainly appears that way in THIS thread.
As I said earlier, I’m not talking about the fat/white trash issue (although I do think it is rude).
My comments were directed at the hypocrisy and the yammering about all the “righteous indignation of the “Professional Offenderati”” when in fact, all the screeching noise was oozing from the “fat bashers”.

I’m not going to argue with you about this. Personally, I think you’re being silly. You’re basically saying that you and others have the right to jump all over the OP about not being PC enough (in various threads) but I don’t have the right to defend them.
While I appreciate you lightening up on the venom and telling me how you feel without being super bitchy and insulting, I just don’t agree. If the PC police have a right to march into every thread with their torches burning bright, then certainly the anti PC police has a right to fight back.
It comes across to me that you’re upset about my defending people that you and others want to jump all over. Hardly seems fair. I argue against the PC police because I don’t agree with them. I’m not doing it just to argue. I’m doing it because the PC police genuinely bug me. Just like the “fat bashers” bug you. You’ve got a right to tell them that. And I’ve got a right to tell you.
I’m giving my opinion the same way the PC police are giving theirs. Where’s the difference? Except for the fact that you agree with the latter and not the former. That’s the only difference I can see.
