My best (worst) mail delivery story involves a package I was going to mail from New Jersey to London on Wednesday, September 12, 2001. I finally got it mailed a week later on Wednesday, September 19, 2001.

It got to London on January 23, 2002.

Well, what do you expect? The whole world changed that day. One of those changes was obviously the slowing of time!

it astounds me today when I get letters and parcels from friends and family in NZ, postmarked only a few days before it arrived…

I on the other hand regularly get mail from friends in Wellington that takes 10 days to arrive, so it can just be the luck of the draw.

I suspect it has more to do with where the airports are- Christchurch and Auckland are the major airports in NZ, and there are multiple daily flights between Australia and NZ- I don’t think Wellington has a daily service internationally, but I may be wrong…
