Have not been to the zoo in years, looking to go to take some nice photos, which is better, the San Francisco or the Oakland zoo?
Neither website really makes it easy to compare.
The children’s section of the Oakland Zoo (i.e. the petting zoo) is closed until 2005.
The Oakland Zoo used to have a terrible reputation, with the animals kept in tiny cages under poor conditions, but they started improving the place in 1985. The petting zoo is the last section to be improved.
The San Francisco Zoo is much bigger than the Oakland Zoo, and is noted for its primates.
