To what extent did the Roman army remove Jews from Jerusalem after the AD 70 rebellion?

Hi

“Pax Romana” by Adrian Goldsworthy states:

“The Jewish population was not removed from Judaea after the rebellions, although losses were terrible and some went abroad. Galilee remained openly Jewish, especially in the countryside…”

My question is regarding the Jews who left Jerusalem. Were they forced out (as I’ve often read) or did they leave voluntarily. I’ve read in some sources that since they had no temple to worship. How much of this information is simplistic or false?

I look forward to your feedback.

There was another Jewish revolt against the Romans in 132 AD which resulted in the Jews being defeated and expelled from Jerusalem in 136 thereby marking beginning the Jewish Diaspora.

Thank you NDP. The author does not mention this at all.

The temple was destroyed in 70 by Titus. We have good information on this and related events from Josephus.
