Today I Bought The Most Boring Book Ever Published.

That’s one page longer then “French War Heros”.

Aren’t there really people out there that are extremely interested in Pi out to the nth place? I always wondered what was the point.

But then again, I’ve also felt that math people like that tend to be a little strange.

It might be boring, but I’ve heard that the book was popular enough to spawn a sequel.

I’m sure there were lots of people looking for patterns in the numbers, or trying to prove it was a rational number after all, or whatnot.

I don’t know how serious you were, but Roewe is likely Röwe. The umlaut very often gets transposed to a trailing ‘e’ for English.

I thought this was going to be about Ayn Rand. (it’s been a while since we had a good Rand bashing thread).

Can you tell I’m NOT a fan of Rand?

Hey, it costs £27 at Amazon.co.uk. You got a bargain. It’s ranked 409,714 on the sales list, so it’s flying off the shelves.

And it’s not pronounced like “Rowe”, so Cicero’s joke, great as it was, wouldn’t cut it in Germany…

Hey, it was 5.30 in the morning when I made that lame pun. Anyway, I think Tuckerfan made a worse joke in this thread…

And no Rowe or Ruva. There is a Ruwe however.

BTW Tuckerfan, the post above means I appreciated the awfulness of your joke.

And here I thought this thread was going to be about The Satanic Verses, which I bought when it first came out to see what all the controversy was about. Little did I suspect that it would be unreadable dreck.

Put it on eBay at the price you paid for it. That sort of title sells pretty well there.

That’s funny! Reminds me of the time my oldest son, who has been desribed as having “a profound understanding of math,” came home from school one day (he was twelve at the time) and very seriously said, “Mom, I wonder if there’s something the matter with me. I was gazing out of the bus window and suddenly realized that I was counting every house that had a prime number on it!”

Might be one of mine. Wouldn’t be surprised if my relatives found other stuff to do than get blown out of the sky in WWI. Hiding out and drinking would be my guess.
