Toenail cut too low... Problem?

This morning, I found that my left little toenail had split at an angle, such that the nail edge, if following the cut, would dive maybe a millimeter at most below the line where I usually cut my nails. I cut the nail at the split, fearing that a tear would be worse. The exposed skin does look (and I believe feel) like “normal” skin, though it does feel a little weird under a sock. Should I be concerned about protecting that skin at all? Or is it okay ot just wait 'til the nail grows back?

Unless it bleeds or has an open wound, you should be fine in a couple of days. If the sensation of it rubbing against your sock is uncomfortable, you could cover it with a bandage, but there’s no real need to do it unless a wound develops.
