Well, I know this has been mentioned in the past before, I think, but I just got home from work, and I’m pooped.
Anyway, last night I threw a paper towel down the toilet (yeah yeah). The toilet is running slow (the water circulates and drains, but you don’t get that suck-like sound when the water gets to the bottom), but if I use the plunger (and build up some water in the bowl), the water goes down with its usual ferocity. So, my question is, is there anything I can put in the toilet to clean up a potential clog? Or should I just call the apartment maintenance guy?
if so, some large plastic object might be the problem, and no, it won’t “flush” away…
I used to use an oven timer to time 'Time out’s for my then 2 year old son. I didn’t put it together that A. I couldn’t locate the damn thing and B. our toilet was acting sluggish…
Or run a snake down it. They sell them at the hardware store/DIY lumberyard. Handy Dan’s, etc. Cost about 4 to 8 bucks, depending on how long it is. Get the next-to-shortest one, because most clogs are right under the potty, and if it’s farther than that length can reach and your arm muscles are anything like mine, you won’t be able to crank it 25 feet anyway.
Stick it down in there and crank it. Don’t worry about poo germs, you can always wash your hands.
At the place where I work, one of the toilets was getting clogged every day for a week. The pipefitter removed the toilet and found a little electronic game machine in the second bend of the trap.
