Quadruple no. If it is on the inside, the end lays against the roll and you can never SEE the end to FIND the end.

Then you end up scrabbling around trying to find where the damned end is! To the best of my memory, every hotel I’ve stayed in installs TP end on the outside.

Plus, you get to do that extra-special triangle fold if you go top-wise.

I cannot believe that there is ANY doubt about the correct position of the TP.

Over the top is off course the only way to go.

  1. It looks better.
  2. You have more control when tearing it. (if you don’t understand, let me elaborate: if you want to unroll the paper you pull away from the wall, the holder will swing away from the wall and allow unhindered rolling. When you proceed to the tearing stage you pull towards the wall, the holder will swing to the wall and will act as a ‘brake’ aiding you in your tearing efforts.)
  3. It looks better.
  4. It is the right way.
  5. It looks better

And on the subject of cats:
Forget about the lid: close the door.

Over the top. We don’t drag our knuckles on the floor when we walk, and we will not drag our knuckles on the wall when we grab our toilet paper.

I must have special needs cats. I have 3 of them and not once have they figured out how to remove our TP from our over-the-top configuration.
