Tom Clancy sports ownership?

For some reason, I thought author Tom Clancy bought part of the New England Patriots football team some years back. However, when I Google, I see that he wanted to buy the Minnesota Vikings in 1998, but that the deal fell through because of financial problems. This is also reportedly about the time Clancy got divorced, a legal proceeding that can surely cause financial problems.

I found an article from November 12, 2003, http://www.smudailycampus.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2003/11/12/3fb1d4cd6b2cd that says Clancy owns the Vikings.

However, the Vikings’ own web site, in an article dated 12/30/03, http://www.vikings.com/News/McCombsQuotes123003.htm says Red McCombs owns the Vikings.

There are also reports on various web pages that Tom Clancy owns part of the Baltimore Orioles baseball team, but the Orioles’ web site doesn’t mention that.

So, can someone with knowledge of team ownerships tell me if Tom Clancy owns all or part of any major sports franchises? If so, which teams?

The last article that I could find about this was a 2000 article that stated that Clancy divided his 24 percent ownership in the Orioles with his ex-wife as part of his divorce settlement.

He was unsuccessful in purchasing a part of the Vikings. In part because he owned a part of the Orioles.
