I want to get a gift for a good friend of mine who has helped me out a great deal recently. He’s a huge Tom Waits fan. I found a vinyl of Raindogs recently and I’m thinking about getting it for him. It’s about $35.
He has the CD, but not the vinyl–would he still enjoy this gift?
Is it worth $35? The money is kinda tight, but I will spend that amount if the record is worth it.
I would love it! If your friend doesn’t appreciate it send it to me.
You do run the risk of your friend not being into collecting vinyl (heretic), in which case it is still a cool gift, but not a super awsome one. But only you would know if that is the case.
$35 for a good quality vinyl album isn’t a bad price either.
I’m a huge Tom Waits fan, and* Rain Dogs* is one of my two favorite Waits albums (the other being Nighthawks at the Diner). Since he has the CD, I doubt he will play the vinyl much, but if he’s a Waits fan, he will certainly appreciate the gift. They also make nice frames for displaying record albums on the wall as art or conversation pieces, so you may want to get that to go with it, or at least mention it to him.
