I stumbled on the mp3 while on eMusic just now. I have no idea if this is old news, but it’s new to me and very exciting!
It’s called Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers, and Bastards and -holy shit!- it’s a triple disc album!
Between this and the Wii, I can’t wait until late November.
There’s a free mp3 from it, called Bottom of the World. It reminds me of Mule Variations.
Tom Waits is so cool.
Looks like a lot of the songs are outtakes, B-sides, etc. I guess it’s a dumping ground for stuff not deemed good enough for his other albums? I’m looking forward to it nonetheless.

I will have to get this! I love Tom Waits, and got to see him on the “Orphans” tour in August in Atlanta.
I just got this in the mail today and it is more than worth the price of admission. I guess it started out as an “odds and sods” collection but then he and his wife wrote more than 30 new songs to go with it.
I’ve been through the Brawlers and Bawlers discs and they are amazing. It’s not as cohesive as some of his other records, but it is just as brilliant.
Anyone else pick it up yet?
