Tomato juice and dog urine

Nice combination, huh? A friend recently offered a bit of advice to prevent the family dog from killing the grass in the backyard by pouring a small amount of tomato juice onto his dry food. Theoretically, the acidity of the tomato neutralizes the ammonia in the urine. Has anyone heard of this? UL perhaps?

Oh, and what wine goes with Science Diet marinara?

sly,
I read that tidbit in “The Family Handyman” magazine. It doesn’t work.
At least in Colorado. We never had much of a problem with our dog (a black lab) and the “pee spots” in California. It is quite a problem here however.

Heck of it is though, the dog likes it so much (the juice on her food) that we don’t have the heart to stop putting it on.
