Tomorrow's the day: back to biking to work.

After my hospital stay and frustratingly slow recovery, I spent a week working half days to regain my strength. Today I had a follow-up appointment with my GP, who said I’m coming along fine and, subject to weather, may resume riding my bicycle to work. It’s supposed to be mostly clear and bright tomorrow, with a low of 51° F and a high of 71°, so I’m giving it the old Rhymer try.

I won’t claim that I’m not nervous. But I’ll be taking a deep breath and focusing on what I want. I can do this. Of course, if by some mischance I fail and collapse in the road and am run over by a semi, jayrey and Mika and Elendil’s Heir and the other short-listers will all be getting coded emails telling them whom to take vengeance upon.

Wish me good fortune!

I am sooooo torn. I do indeed wish you well but --------- I also like the idea of plausibly deniable violence at someone else’s urging. So I guess I win either way?

Meh, don’t listen to ruble…he rides a cow!

Good luck tomorrow. I’m soon back on mine, & twitchin’ to get there.

I wish you well on your journey. I have taken to the bicycle transport myself and it seems to have helped with my back pain and leg cramps.
Although my advice is not to trail down a non-lighted pathway after midnight and run into a tree like I did.

Glad to hear you’re recovering nicely.

Good Luck. How far is it each way?

Good luck. I wish I could bike commute. I’m only 7 miles from work but there’s a section of road that dangerous even in a car.

Good Luck; I almost have my ancient beast ready to ride and I’m hoping I’ll be up and away next week.

Eight miles, but I only biked about two. I rode the bus the first several part, then got off for the last stretch.

I hear you. I live only 3.5 miles from work, but the center section of that ride has no alternative routes and is way too dangerous.

I did it for one spring and summer, but a couple close calls broke my nerve - haven’t been able to talk myself into trying it again.

Sounds like you are well down the road to recovery. I am very pleased. Keep me on that short list, though. I will happily hunt down anyone who does you harm!

No, on, no, dear. You’re not on the VENGEANCE team. You’re on the “Fuck it, if I’m gonna die I’m taking these assholes with me team even though they haven’t done anything to me, on account of them being, well, assholes.”
