Tongue Piercing Question

I’ve had my tongue pierced for a few years now, and I’ve never taken it out except to clean it. How long can I take it out w/o worrying about the hole healing over? A few hours? Days? Anyone know?

I’ve had mine pierced for about 2 years now, and I’ve had it out many times for 8 to 10 hours at a stretch without a problem.
However, the first time I had it done (about 8 years ago) I took it out for about 3 days and then I couldn’t get it back in. It may have been because it was still a relatively new piercing and healed quicker than it would now, but I don’t know.

Hope that helped.

Depends, really. Try taking it out for short intervals… and then increase the time you leave it out… but do it slowly, so that you don’t wind up not being able to get the jewelry back in at all.

I’ve had mine pierced a long time and the longest it was out was about 3 or 4 hours. It went back in no problem. Of course, that’s me. . .

Will piercings always try to heal together?

I mean if you have it for 20 years and then remove it will it heal?
