tonsillectomies in adults

Redheads bleed more?
Glad you are feeling better!

They do indeed… it was one of the first things the doc pointed out, but I’d already been aware of it since I’ve got an extensive surgical history, and everyone mentions that we bleed/bruise/scab more. But we make up for it with our higher pain threshhold (especially the women: redheaded women have the highest pain threshhold of all). Go us!

And thank you.

JillGat, it sucks, but it was the best thing I ever did.

I had constant sore throats, colds, swollen tonsils, and those nasty tonsil pucks for years. Constant infections. And I coughed alot. Like a smoker in the morning, except I don’t smoke.

Anyway, I finally had such a bad case of tonsillitis, that I had to have them taken out. The recovery stinks, but my throat health has never been better. I rarely cough, I never have sore throats, and I can’t remember the last cold I had.

The recovery for an adult is all I know. And it knocked me out of work for 3 weeks. But I’d do it tomorrow if I had to.

Good luck!

Thanks for following up on this! I have to get mine out (I’m 38), and I’m concerned about the missed time and healing. I’ll keep this in mind when I can finally find the time to take 2 weeks off of work.

If you have any more follow-up data, or follow-up information, I’d love to hear it.
