Tony Bennett announces his retirement (sort of)

well his son/manager did …but this depresses me

Tony’s reason for living is his work. It’s what motivates him to stay active.

I read about seniors that keep working. The 90 year old Walmart greeter or the 80 year old volunteers at the hospitals. I see them pushing wheelchair patients to Xray or for lab tests and then back to the clinic.

Tony’s had a good run. He’s stayed current in music. Recording with Amy Winehouse and Lady Gaga. I’ll miss him.

I don’t care whether he stops now or sings till he’s 200. Either way, he’s one of my favorite singers.

I feel like we’ll be reading about his death soon. I hope not, for sure.

And mine.

This one gets me every time. “Waltz for Debby,” written by (and in this recording, accompanied by) the great Bill Evans:

Might be relevant that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2016.

Damn.
