Too lazy to go to the store

Aw, gee. There’s nothing for dinner.

And I don’t feel like going to the store. So I’m boiling some water that will soon have some angel hair pasta put into it. I’ve heated some olive oil, crushed garlic and sun-dried tomatoes, and I have some grated parmasan. It will have to do.

I wish I had a tin of anchovies.

That sounds pretty good actually.

Got any red wine?

um, **Johnny - **

going for a record for mundane, are we?

I have a De Loach cabernet from the Russian River Valley. (Okay, I dis California every chance I get. But they do make some decent wine. Of course, I’m no expert.)

Aye.

I eat pasta like that all the time. Except without the sun dried tomatos. I guess I’m ultra mundane. I think I’ll get some sun dried tomatoes next time I’m forced to shop so I can kick it up a notch.

Ah, Johhny,

Keep a can of artichokes in water on hand, not the oil packed, blech. Those go great with pasta and a little olive oil, garlic and parmesan.

Never without a can here.

<flashback to odd cut from old J. Geils album> No anchovies please.

Got any capers?

That’s better than anything my mum ever whipped up.

You don’t NEED to go to the store with vittles like that laying around! Sounds scrumpy!

One time I didn’t know what to make, so I made rice. But that seemed dull, so I emptied a tin of Veg-All into it. And some tinned shrimp that I had in the cupboard. And some soy sauce. That turned out pretty good. I was eating it for days.

Another time I made rice with veggie broth, sliced broccoli, sliced fresh mushrooms, and a little soy sauce. That was good too, and I’ve made it a few times both with and without the soy sauce.

I don’t know if I mentioned it in the Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding thread (the server here is extremely slow today), but my neighbour didn’t die from testing my cooking. She wasn’t even on the floor, wracked with spasms. In fact, she said it was delicious. (Being a bachelour, I’ll eat anything I make. It’s nice to know it’s actually edible!)

Friday a co-worker and I went out for a Mexican lunch. Carnitas tacos, refried beans, and pasta. Yes, pasta. Angel hair with green chilis, tomatoes, olive oil and garlic. Since I had most of the pasta left, I took it home. I tossed it into a pan with the garlic-sun-dried-tomato-olive-oil-parmasan pasta I made on Wednesday. Then I threw in a can of chili (no beans) and heated it up. Not bad. Finished the last of it for breakfast this morning. As for the left-over refried beans, I had those with Fritos last night.

I really am a good cook, you know; it’s just that sometimes I don’t feel like cooking.

 I’ve just remembered I was going to make BBQ beef today! Gotta get to the store.

Don’t forget to pick up those anchovies.

:smack:

Wasn’t even thinking about anchovies today.

The beef is in the slow cooker. Got some Irish cheddar, some double-Goucester and Stilton, and some granny smith apples. Joe-Joe’s natural creme sandwich cookies, Trader Joe’s Cocoa Almonds, organic peanut butter, Prince of Denmark strawberry preserves, Gorilla Crunch organic cereal, and some Ralph’s old-fashioned franks (with natural casing). But no anchovies.

And Trader Joe’s was out of those awesome triple-ginger cookies.
