Too weird--the Wonder Of Random Street View

I got a flying pig, a plastic pig with wings hanging from a tree in somebody’s front yard (don’t remember the place, somewhere in the US). The other interesting features were two statues of what looked like a kneeling Jesus next to a kneeling Mother Mary in front of the tree. Don’t know if they are supposed to worship the flying pig, but it looked like that.

ETA: and in a second iteration, it gave me a dog looking like my avatar, behind the wheel of a bus. :open_mouth: He wears no tie, though.

I really have enjoyed this. Thank you.

I got first McDonald’s.

Just now I got an underwater shot of a humpback whale off the shore of the Cook Islands, a man in Australia riding a pennyfarthing bike which is towing a smaller bike with a toy monkey riding it, a sculpture of a Quarter Pounder With Cheese outside a McDonald’s in Rapid City, SD, the observation deck of Burj Khalifa, and a truck stop in County Tipperary, Ireland named after Barack Obama.

On the beach in Bolivar, Columbia. Several women working on their tans.

Pretty cool.

Help me out here… There was an app that set you down randomly somewhere (GOOGLE maps) and you needed to try to figure out where it was. You could move and look around was about it if I recall.

Maybe geoguesser, mentioned by @MrDibble upthread?

Yes, sounds like GeoGuessr

Thanks. I missed that. I think geoguesser.

yeah ive seen some of these on the "random"button

I got Mont Blanc with a climber suspended on what looks like a rather melty ice wall.

No “e” before the “r”, in case you want to search for it (although Google should still suggest the correct name)

Are they really random? They’re all so well composed.

I got a tour boat in Hong Kong filled with hundreds of little panda statues. Cute.

I got “Giant Roof Spider” in Mexico City, but I couldn’t see any sign of a spider.

It’s behind you!

The randomness isn’t just some Google Street View somewhere, it’s a random image from a collection of known weird and interesting images found on Google Street View.

Yes. Thank you.

And I just got a group of people all wearing bird masks staring at the camera in Japan. Creepy.

Oregon State University football stadium during practice. I never realized that Oregon State (OSU) has pretty much the same colors as Oklahoma State (OSU).
