I’m just glad they didn’t pick Fat Matt’s, for god’s sake.
Second on Stamey’s, and I love Country BBQ out on Wendover ave. as well.
Well, sure, they’re often just there to stir the pot and foster discussion/argument, but this one doesn’t even try to be somewhat plausible, IMHO.
Now that Harold’s is gone I’d have picked Daddy D’z. But what have you got against Fatt Matt’s? Other than the lay-out of their dinning room?
I thought it was common knowledge that NYC had the best of everything, everywhere?
That said, they didn’t even pick the best BBQ in NYC. I would have gone with Dinosaur Bar-B-Q, Blue Smoke or Hill Country.
The fact that they cook their ribs in the oven in hotel pans, for starters.
Harolds was very average. I like Pig & Chick and Fox Brothers okay, but the best Q in town comes from Lowcountry Barbecue. Catering only.
This.
To be fair, most of these can be used for either BBQ or grilling, so calling them by that name is not totally wrong.
But they only include 1 that is fueled by charcoal and 1 fueled by wood pellets. 80% of the best barbeques are gas? Seriously?! Whoever compiled that list should have also included the pot and stove they used to boil the ribs.
Go ahead, bite the bullet and make the hour drive down to Jackson.
Any list of BBQ joints that doesn’t include this place is just wrong!
Used to eat at Fresh Air all the time. Good Q. I think they cook with hams there.
Wow! Daisy May’s is #1 on their list?? That’s that first place that I thought of. Seriously. I haven’t tried every BBQ joint in America, but Daisy May’s is the best BBQ I’ve ever eaten. Goode Company in Houston was my favorite when I lived there. I’ve gone back there once-a-year and kept telling myself that Daisy May’s is better. Now when I go to Houston, I don’t even bother going to any BBQ spot. And no other NY-area BBQ can hold a candle to Goode Company (or a number of other spots in Texas).
BTW, that’s just a bad picture of the brisket sandwich. They don’t serve burgers at Daisy May’s.
All of a sudden I have some respect for Fox news.
Ah, they keep the skin on. I didn’t realize they did that.
Very smart move.
I’m going to Urban BBQ tonight for dinner and I’ll report back.
Wilbur’s, in Goldsboro. Simply. The. Best.
Seriously, I had a pulled-pork plate there a few years ago that stands out as one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten.
Runner up is Bessemer’s, in Charleston, S.C. My eastern North Carolina-born father thinks this is rank blasphemy, but mustard-based Low Country barbecue is almost as good, to me, as vinegar-based eastern NC.
Gardiner’s in Rocky Mount used to be good; but it’s been decades since I’ve eaten there, so I can’t say how it is now.
I won’t admit anything made west of Goldsboro is barbecue.
Bolding mine
Careful now son, thems fightin words

Capt a Texan
That’s because you’re from Texas, where “barbecue” is a verb. Hell, y’all barbecue cows. As every civilized gourmet knows, “barbecue” is pulled pork. Barbecued chicken, ribs, brisket, I’m sure it’s good - but it ain’t barbecue.
I read this & thought, "What!? But this is a thread about BBQ. Cows can’t swim. How could it possibly mention the best place for crab bisque and lobster bisque in All of PA???
It was misinformed…
To quote Ike Witt in Post #2 - “Get a rope.”
I think you’ve nailed it. They probably polled their reporters and these were the places that got two or more votes. I can’t picture FOX spending money on sending people around the country to different restaurants. Can you?
