I know this has been discussed before several times in IMHO and MPSIMS, but after commenting on another thread I got it in my head that maybe we could combine @Mean_Mr.Mustard’s TV character competition a few months back with @solost’s poll on Stephen King adaptations and come up with a list of an SDMB version of the AFI’s Top 100 movies.
To be honest, I’m not sure if I’m biting off more than I can chew, or maybe the threads from 2025 years ago scratched that itch already. If it’s a shitty idea the thread can be closed, but if people are interested, I’m game to give it a whirl. If you’re up for it, post a list of your ten favorite films of all time - any genre, any year, but let’s limit it to cinematic releases only (i.e. no made for TV or straight to video films). I’ll compile a list of all the contenders and when have a solid list of nominees I’ll make a new thread to start ranking them. I’ll post my 10 nominees separately later on if there’s interest.

That’s a fair point. I think the way I want to do this is that this thread is just for nominations, so I won’t be tallying any votes from this, just compiling an overall list of nominees and from there we’ll do several rounds of head to head voting like @Mean_Mr.Mustard did on his TV character competition. If you want to add to your list down the line that’s fine. I have a list of 80 nominees so far with a handful of repeat nominations. I’ll weed out the repeats in a few days and go from there.
