Top Chef - 6/4 (spoilers)

I love the challenge … take this pig and do something with it. As Stephanie put it, there’s all these Wilburs just lying there…

Dale and Stephanie are old friends. Who knew? He was likable this episode. Owned up to the pork belly mess instead of passing blame, which he’d be likely to do if he was still a contestant.

Any second now we’ll find out who’s going home.

OK, I know I’m not the only one who’s watching this. Will Lisa’s luck save her one more time? Will Richard play it too safe? At least Lisa finally washed her hair.

I’ll wait until the episode’s over before saying more.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Lisa will survive a nuclear war.

You have got to be kidding me…

There are no words.

So how many producers did Lisa blow?

At least I no longer feel like I must take a shower after looking at her hair.

I did love how on the phone survey thing, 91% of responders said Lisa should leave.

Would you want that face blowing you?

If Lisa wins then Bush wins.

Can I have Lisa buy my next lottery ticket? Not one, but two people make mistakes and she still survives! When Dale left the pork belly out and Stephanie was still one of the top two, I thought someone had finally defeated Lisa’s luck. Stephanie did, but then Antonia shot herself in the foot. At least Lisa washed her hair.

By the way, would some nice person please ask a mod to delete the other thread I started?

Nice dress Padma, jeez I need a girlfriend.

I for one am really disappointed that Lisa remains.

Antonia’s mistake was taking some basic dishes and not really doing anything really unique with them. Her style has always been warm, basic food from the heart which only works if it tastes absolutely fabulous. And obviously this time she just didn’t pull it off.

Lisa made it for her originality and the attempt to create something unique. As always, she just never quite pulls it off tastewise. All you can really say for her each week is she was not the worst. What kind of boast is that?

Very impressed with Stephanie’s demeanor and behavior after Dale’s screwing up an entire dish by leaving it out. She didn’t even hesitate in saying, “Throw it out. I’m not taking the chance of making everyone sick.” She then used Dale to brainstorm for a new dish instead of pouting or being angry with him. Very classy.

Not at all. I think everybody hates Lisa.

Yeah for Stephanie and Richard.

Bitch has the luck of the devil herself.

She’s like a damn cockroach. If she somehow manages to win this thing there will be rioting in the streets, well, at least a lot more angry posts on message boards. And then she tops it off with a “well, you could have at least congratulated me”. Holy crap woman! People hate you, learn from it.

I was proud of Stephanie winning her first quickfire and so glad she got the pick of sous chefs. Dale almost made me cry when he got upset about possibly messing up Stephanie’s dish, but in the end they came up with something better. I’m really pulling for Stephanie.

I cannot believe how freaking angry I am about this. What a load of bullshit. She’s probably going to win the whole fucking thing. Jeeze. What is wrong with those people?

I think that Top Chef has lost all respectability with having Lisa in the final. In the bottom group 6 weeks in a row and she beats out one of the top performers who’s only foibles were

  1. Not cooking the beans long enough
  2. Not using three plates

And to top it of, Tom says Lisa’s was by far the least liked table and she comes in claiming everyone loved her food. She is so freaking delusional.

I loved the little exchange at the end, when Lisa said to Richard and Stephanie something like “I know you two are disappointed that Antonia is going home, but it wouldn’t kill you to say congratulations.”

She then proceeded to rant about how it shouldn’t be about just personalities, but about the cooking, and that they should respect her ability to get this far.

The thing is, though, she has been in the bottom group 7 or 8 times now, more than any other chef this season. Over the last 6 or 7 shows, she managed to make it to Puerto Rico by essentially being the second- or third-worst contestant every week. And that’s just in the voting; in my opinion, there were more than a couple of weeks where she was actually the worst, but managed to survive.

My Richard love knows no bounds since he had what has got to be the best line ever- “You won the fucking bronze medal”. Hee. Lisa can’t possibly think that she has a shot at this. I can’t imagine how she would have handled it if someone had made the same mistake with her that Dale did with Stephanie (especially if the someone had been Dale). Stephanie really handled that perfectly- didn’t blow up at Dale, didn’t let it sink her- she was able to move on and let Dale help her make something that impressed the judges.

I’m really pulling for Richard, but I’d be happy with a Stephanie win.

**And to top it of, Tom says Lisa’s was by far the least liked table and she comes in claiming everyone loved her food. She is so freaking delusional.

I’m pretty sure that Tom made the comment without specifying which table it was. The camera was on Lisa’s face so it made you assume he meant her. However, if it was indeed Antonia’s table with the least people that would have been a justifiable reason for sending her home.
Lisa’s personality is just plain antagonistic. In front of the judges she portrays this attitude of defensive aggression which totally sends anti-Lisa messages to them and the viewers. Truly don’t get how in the world she made the finals.

I was almost wrapping my head around how undercooked beans are a worse mistake than poorly seasoned tostones and thinking that maybe my Lisa ire is undeserved. And then…“It would have been nice if you congratulated me” Gah!

Did she congratulate either of them? Did they congratulate eachother? Shut your hole!

If this show were on Fox the sous chef deal would have been rigged so Dale worked with Lisa…and at least one of them would’ve ended up needing medical attention.
