The teaser at the end of this week’s episode alluded to the “most amazing upset or twist” or …something or another… in top chef history, during next week’s showdown episode. They made it seem like Lisa was going to win, but I bet that is their intention, it’s probably something else.
Actually I thought he was talking about the line for Antonia’s table, not Lisa’s. Then again, mileage does vary.
This is the first season I’ve watched this show, so I am new to it but one thing I’ve noticed is, despite people’s personalities, what it ultimately comes down to is how good the food is. Each time, the person who’s been kicked off has produced one or more dishes which simply don’t taste good. They’ve been rerunning Season 3 today on Bravo and there was one episode where the judges had to choose between someone who cooked a dish which was a bad idea and who cooked one which was badly prepared. The person who cooked the badly prepared dish was booted. So far, Lisa’s avoided being the worst, although I don’t know why Dale thought butterscotch scallops would work. I think if he hadn’t cooked an inedible dish, he’d still be around. Then again, I’d rather see someone booted because of inedible food than because of a conspiracy theory. So far, Lisa’s stuff hasn’t been inedible.
Which chef a couple of weeks ago didn’t cook the rice long enough? Is that the one they sent home?

No, Lisa has screwed up twice now even though she is a self proclaimed Asian chef.
Lisa is a real piece of work. Lisa either needs to go into therapy or lose about 60 lbs. and lose the bitch face.
Everyone here loves Stephanie because of her sunny personality. Lisa is her polar opposite.

I fail to see what her weight has to do with anything. The therapy and losing the bitch face is something I can agree on. Lisa was correct on the fact that “this isnt a popularity contest”, however, I’m not so certain she will have her phone ringing off the hook with job offers. I want to reach into my TV set and bitch slap her myself (but she’d probably beat the crap out of me).
I dont really like how they do the eliminations - I would think they would eliminate by poorest over a series of comps and get rid of the continually poor performers vs someone being a steady/top performer and getting the axe after one bad call.
I was out of town last week and just caught the epi.
Lisa’s makeover did her no favors. Headshot-wise, it was fine, but every full-body shot I couldn’t help but think, “Man, she looks sloppy.”
I am amazed that she (Lisa) managed to survive another elimination. As much as I dislike Lisa, Antonia grated with her sniping at Dale: “All he cooks is Asian food.” Well, Antonia, you dumbass, Asia is the largest continent, and there’s a world of difference from Filipino to Thai food, for instance. That comment was at best seriously xenophobic and dismissive and potentially racist. I mean, would anybody but the biggest moron say, “Everything that guy cooks is European - he’s got a limited repertoire?” So perhaps her booting was a karmic kick in the ass.
Hey Richard - uncooked plantain sounds really horrible.
Stephanie and Dale were great together, and even with the potential disaster with the pork belly, they managed to still come out near the top. Dale shouldn’t have left the show when he did, but this is probably the best way of reminding the viewers how great he was.
Why do I get the feeling that all of the top 5 or 6 chefs will get great offers and professional opportunities, but Lisa will lag in those areas? I think she’s “Most Likely to End Up on Another Reality Show Explaining How She Got a Terrible Edit and She’s Not Really Like That.”

The end-of-season “reunion show,” where all the competitors have finally had the opportunity to see how they’ve been presented by the show’s producers, ought to be interesting.
“No, Lisa really is like that. They got her spot on.”
Also, now that the final group of contestants has been narrowed down, is it wrong for me to get behind Stephanie because she’s Exactly My Type? Dark curly hair, a little short, a little chubby, brilliant smile, and great skill and success in a highly competitive creative-professional field… I’m not proud, but man, does she turn my crank.

No, it’s not wrong. I’m hetero female and I think she’s adorable. Of course I wouldn’t want to go so far as to “do” her but I’d like to be her friend … her friend that she cooks for and cuddles with.
What?

I think she’s kind of cute too.
