Top Five Love Songs of All time

In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel
Love Song - The Cure
Feel Like Making Love - Bad Company
You Do Something to Me - Cole Porter
Deja Voodoo - Kenny Wayne Shepard

(Okay, so there’s a slight voodoo theme!)

Ewan McCall, “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”. The fact that this song has been mentioned a few times makes me love the SDMB more than I already did.

Anyone for Stan Rogers, “45 Years”? Or Tom Waits (pretty much anything?)

Lola, Tom Waits is a master at drunken love songs. “San Diego Serenade” and “Take it With Me” are among the best.

“I Hope That I Don’t Fall In Love With You” probably falls in the anti-love song category, though.

RIP, Bobby Hatfield, 1/2 of the Righteous Bros, died Nov 5, 2003. We’ve lost that lovin’ feelin’.

Annie’s Song, Loggins & Messina

Someone I Used To Love, originally written by Michael Masser for Diana Ross, who rejected it, then recorded by Natalie Cole and Barbara Streisand (separately)

Fire and Rain, James Taylor

Dreamsville, Mancini, Evans, Livingston

Moon River, Mancini, Mercer (hey, I like Mancini!)

Crazy Love - Van Morrison
Adore - Prince
Make You Feel My Love - Joan Osborne’s cover of Bob Dylan
You Are So Beautiful - Joe Cocker
Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton

Of course all these were written especially for me!

Making Love Out of Nothing At All - Air Supply (I proposed to my wife with this one!)
Don’t Know Much - Linda Rhonstat & Aaron Neville
Will You Still Love Me? - Chicago
Against All Odds - Phil Collins
How Do I Get You Alone? - Heart

But there are many other fantastic ones, and I can’t say I’m that firm about any of these selections (except the first) as being specifically in the top 5.
