What's your all time favorite love-song?

The one that does it for me is,
When a man loves a women.

Percy Sledge
WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN
When a man loves a woman

can’t keep his mind on nothin’ else

He’ll trade the world
for the good thing he’s found.
If she is bad he can’t see it

she can do no wrong

Turn his back on his best friend
if he put her down.

When a man loves a woman

spend his very last dime

Trying to hold on to what he needs.
He give up all his comforts
and sleep out in the rain

If she say that’s the way it ought to be.

When this man loves a woman

I give you ev’rything that I have

Trying to hold out to your hot love
girl

Baby
please don’t treat me bad!

When a man loves a woman
down deep in his soul

She can bring him such misery.
If she’s playing him for a fool

he’s the last one to know

Lovin’ eyes can never see.

When a man loves a woman

he can do her no wrong

He can never harm some lovely girl.
Yes
when a man loves a woman

I know exactly how to deal

'Cause baby
baby
baby

you’re my world.

When a man loves a woman

I know exactly how to deal
baby
baby.

I love that song.

Toss up between The Replacements’ Within Your Reach and Pete Droge’s Beautiful Girls.

“Love Song” by the Cure is also a good one.

hurm… “ready for love” by err damn I knew it before I started typing… hell was on their 10 till 6 albumn.

damn brain fart.

Osip

oh wait… BAD COMPANY! my mind works!!

I’ll stick to the obvious Indian Love Song

“I Will Always Love You,” but, for cryin’ out loud, by Dolly Parton, NOT that honey-coated sugarcube version by Whitney fer crissakes!

I’m not an Elvis fan, but Can’t Help Falling in Love does it to me everytime.

Well, this will be the third thread I mention them in (can you tell I’m obsessed?), but here we go:

“Today” by Jefferson Airplane

mmm, makes me just want to curl up w/ someone by a fire…

My love is unconditional we knew it from the start
I see it in your eyes you can feel it from my heart
From here on after let’s stay the way we are right now
And share all the love and laughter that a lifetime will allow

I cross my heart and promise to
Give all I’ve got to give to make all your dreams come true
In all the world you’ll never find
A heart as true as mine…

And if along the way we find a day it starts to storm
You’ve got the promise of my love to keep you warm.

<sigh>

I love that song.

Gotta be “Something” by the Beatles, from Abbey Road, my all time favorite album. George Harrison was an underappreciated songwriter.

I agree that George was not appreciated as a song writer, and I also agree with “Something”. But it’s a close second to “Yesterday” followed by “Here There and Everywhere.”

Am I the Only One? by BNL. Good song to get cozy to.

That song gave me chills even before the movie * Ghost *.

It’s a tie between the Brian Adams song I think it’s called “If You Love a Woman” or something like that and “Fields of Gold” by Sting.

It’s “Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman”, and yes, Bryan Adams. A beautiful song.

I still have “I’ve Been Loving You (too long)” in my head, and I will till the end of time, I suspect.

I’ll second “Something” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love” (see my post in the eloping thread for my marriage fantasy), and add “Your Song” by Elton John to the list.

Why Don’t We Get Drunk - Jimmy Buffett

Yay! Someone else who appreciates one of the best (and one of the currently most underappreciated) bands of the 60’s. But don’t forget “Coming Back to Me” or “Have You Seen the Stars Tonite?” (from the original Jefferson Starship lp) as great romantic songs.

Without a doubt, “Within Your Reach” is my favorite love song. It makes me sad and happy at the same time.

Though I also get choked up by (believe it or not) The Ramones “Bye Bye Baby.”

OK, I am looking for a wedding song for my upcoming nuptuals. This thread has been very helpful, but I am leaning toward “At Last”, performed by Etta James.

At last
my love has come along
my lonely days over
and life is like a song

At last
the skies above are blue
well my heart was wrapped up in clover
the night I looked at you

I found a dream
that I could speak to
a dream that I could call my own
I found a thrill
to press my cheek to
a thrill that I have never known

well

You smile
you smile
oh and then the spell was cast
and here we are in heaven
for you are mine at last

(Repeat above)

ooo yea
you are mine
you are mine
at last
at last
at last
at last
