A few more that had me LOL:
**My Cousin Vinny
The Ruling Class
**
… and almost anything by Woody Allan.

The winner of this thread will be Airplane! From the opening scene (parady of Jaws) to the end credits, there are more laughs in this movie than any I’ve ever seen. Actually, I could round out a top-5 with others from members of the ZAZ group [ul][li]Top Secret (they had me at “Skeet Surfin’”)[]The Naked Gun (the first one)[]The Kentucky Fried Movie (dated, but the “Fistful of Yen” is a classic)Ruthless People (not only extremely funny, but with a very clever plot and wonderful performances)[/ul][/li]
A Fish Called Wanda needs to be here somewhere.
Well, some have already been listed, but:
[ol]
[li]Raising Arizona[/li][li]Life of Brian[/li][li]Orgazmo (“You haven’t seen Orgazmo? Where’ve you been, Mars?” “No, Utah.” “Oh. Sorry.”)[/li][li]Better Off Dead[/li][li]Blazing Saddles[/li][/ol]
And an honorable mention to a film I had never even heard of last week, The Last Remake of Beau Geste, a Marty Feldman film. A great spoof of the Gary Cooper film, and old Hollywood films in general.
In no particular order:
The Producers
Animal House
Duck Soup
Blazing Saddles
What’s Up, Tiger Lily?
Honorable mention:
The General (Keaton)
A Night at the Opera
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Add one more vote each for The Producers and Duck Soup (though on other days I’m as likely to replace Duck Soup with Horse Feathers or Monkey Business – or even The Cocoanuts).
After that, I suppose I have to include Airplane!, and This is Spinal Tap. And much as I want to pick something from the screwball comedy era, for laughing out loud funny I guess I’ve gotta go with Raising Arizona.
Hon. Mention: Horsefeathers, Night at the Opera, Blazing Saddles, The Producers, Bananas, Animal House, Keeping the Faith, South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut
Airplane!
South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Hot Shots
Ghostbusters
I can’t believe no one has mentioned that Peter Sellers movie: The Party.
My (by no means exhaustive, and subject to change in the next five minutes) list:
Raising Arizona
The Big Lebowski
Pulp Fiction
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Office Space
And nearly every other movie mentioned in this thread, really. (Special Hon. Mention to Kicking and Screaming, which while being a really funny movie, manages simultaneously to depress the living hell out of me.)
It’s a Gift
Sons of the Desert
To Be or Not To Be (1942)
The Bank Dick
Way Out West
In no particular order:
The Princess Bride
The Villain
Spaceballs
Blazing Saddles
Airplane!
Well Withnail and I should be in the list.
[Monty]As a youth I used to weep in butchers shops[/Monty]
In no particular order:
Marx Brothers, A Night at the Opera for choice.
The Party (thank you for the reminder bagkitty)
Don’t Tell Her Its Me (nobody else seems to have heard of this, but I thought it was hysterical. I lent a copy to a friend who was miserable while recuperating from surgery, about which she had been reticent. Pity it turned out to have been abdominal surgery.)
The Princess Bride
Young Frankenstein.
Arrrrrgh. I forgot The Ritz. If it’s 5 only, The Princess Bride bites the dust - the book was way funnier anyway.
Airplane! – I’ve seen it at least 50 times, and it is still hilarious.
This is Spinal Tap.
Kentucky Fried Movie
The Naked Gun
Eddie Murphy’s “Raw” – So hilarious it hurts.
I don’t have a Top Five list, just One movie no one’s mentioned:
Brain Donors
Starring John Turturro as Roland T. Flakfizer – and if that sounds an awful lot like Rufus T. Firefly, you’re right. It’s a hilarious Marx Brothers movie without the Marx Brothers. I loved it, but it didn’t last in the theaters and it’s now hard to find on video store shelves. A pity.
I hate to admit it, but since no one else mentioned it…
Wayne’s World
Hmmm.
South Park
Blazing Saddles
The Snapper
Duck Soup
Mystery Science Theatre 2000
The movie I laughed the most during was The People Under the Stairs. This had nothing to do with the quality of the movie, everything to do with my buddy’s sarcastic comments.
Well, there are a lot that I like that have already been listed. The two best, though, and the haven’t been listed (!) are:
Bottle Rocket
and
Rushmore
If you haven’t seen these you are missing out on two classic movies. Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson are absolutely brilliant writers, and the movies are extrememly good. I wish that I’d chosen Future Man for my user name. Oh well.
