Released for the Sgt. Pepper movie soundtrack some 12 years after the original Beatles version, EWF took an average song and turned it into a smash hit, landing #1 on the R&B Chart, winning a Grammy, and becoming the band’s signature song.

They made a dramatic improvement to a Lennon/McCartney song; they were that good.
