Mind you, Jack’s reaction was worse. He was ready to surrender 10% of the world’s children… for Ianto??!! :dubious:
Well, he is Welsh! (Ianto I mean).
Which is why BBC America is smart to schedule* Being Human* after a 10-episode marathon of Primeval. During a week featuring the *Torchwood *epic, repeated several times–& a new (to the USA) Doctor Who.
Here in Houston, we’re having a hotter-than-average summer. And our “average” is pretty hot. Let’s stay inside where it’s cool & rot our minds!
Tell you what, the 456 are welcome to the kids that are allus on my lawn
Being Human is really good.
Ianto? Ianto wake up. I’m still in denial about that. What are they doing to the team? Is there even going to be a season 4? This series has been brilliant. Its like everything I thought Torchwood would be when it first started. They have really won me around with Gwen. She used to bug me so much. I also love Rhys so nothing had better happen to him.
The scene where they were deciding on the 10% was great TV. Totally chilling because you know thats exactly how it would go down.
I’ve seen very little of this, about 15 minutes of last night’s episode (where Jack lets us know what he did back in the 60s, for a few minutes), but it was pretty good from what I saw, and I say that as someone who doesn’t like regular Torchwood. Don’t get me wrong, I really did try to get into the series, but just couldn’t get past the juvenile airs.
Did anyone else get a Quatermass vibe off the episode? That it was harking back to those 1960s mini-series? It gave me the same sort of chill.
Well if you enjoyed yesterdays episode then you would like the resit of this as this was IMHO the weakest episode to date.
I’m not normally a fan of Torchwood, but watch every episode of Doctor Who (or the Evil Renegade as he is known to Faction Paradox), but this has been good so far.
I am, however, worried that the final episode will end badly, e.g. have a “Star Trek” ending, where some stupid deua ex machina appears and defeats the 456.
I say this for a couple of reasons, firstly the power of the 456 has been built up far too much, either they can destroy the whole world without much effort, or it’s a huge bluff and Earth fell for it.
Secondly, having completely failed to get them to back down, only some technobabble solution can save us now. I mean, how naive was Jack with the whole “give up now or be at war with the whole world” thing?
Will still watch it to see what happens, hope I’m not disappointed.
Let me add then - it is amazing. Great script, great acting, great twists, great shocks.
Metoo! I’m rooting for the Magic Power Jack Kiss being of some effect
Do they still have
The Resurrection Glove
?
Can we lose spoilers at this point?
Hasn’t using that resulted in massive evil on every occasion?
I’d appreciate it if you didn’t, though I’d understand if you did.
Only 8 minutes to go, just settling down with my cup of tea.
Good god that was a dramatic ending …
This whole 5-episode season is now up there with some of the best television I’ve ever seen.
It’s among the most distressing too, though. Good God. I haven’t quite stopped crying and it finished ten minutes ago.
My God! That was bleak. Somehow, I don’t think we’ll be seeing Torchwood series 4. The end of John Frobisher and his family was shocking. Not to mention Jack’s grandson.
This genuinely upset me, thinking about my own kids.
And the kids being taken away. My daughter’s school would have been in that 10%.
It’d be interesting to see what kind of country is left after the government have done that.
That Prime Minister - I could have killed him myself. What an evil, evil bastard.
Thinking about this mini-series as akin to Quatermass was a bit ironic given what the aliens wanted our kids for
Harriet Jones would never have allowed it.
I genuinely wanted someone, near the end when the PM, his staff and the Generals are sitting round the table, to burst in and execute every last motherfucking one of them. I’m sure leather-ninja-special-forces-chick would have been up for it. Gwen too, and Jack’s daughter after what happened. sniff
