I’d say the others figured that out when he came back from the dead toward the end of End of Days.
Besides being a slut, Gwen is probably also a motor mouth.
Emphasis on everybody. I think he’d marry the whole team at once. He’s a 51st century kinda guy, and there’s a whole lotta lovin’ in that man.
Yebbut, the whole Jack/Ianto thing rings very false to me. I mean, here’s a guy who had a 3/4 cyberman in the basement because she was his girlfriend, and then Jack kills her.
But he’s okay with it, because Jack’s good in the sack. I still don’t buy it. I still think it’d be a much better show without the sexy “edginess”.
Well, yeah, but it’s a British thing, right?
Never underestimate the power of a good lay.
In fact I agree with you. Ianto’s willingness to jump into bed with Jack read very false to me. It would read much truer if we got either a) an episode in which Ianto evidenced some psychological trauma perhaps akin to Stockholm Syndrome in which his love for Lisa was transferred to Jack or b) several extended scenes showing Jack and Ionto’s “dates” in explicit detail.
If I were Gwen, “Captain John” would have had a round or two in his fucking head about a nanosecond after the cuffs were off. Seriously.
I’m rather surprised that (Group, Dammit!, it’s Group Captain) “Captain” Jack let his old friend - letting such an obvious psychopathic murdering conman seems a bit off.
I can see how humanity, in the future, might be more open to omni-sexuality, but I’m not seeing how humanity, even those wacky time agents, would so lightly tolerate casual murder.
But the episode meets the usual Doctor Who minus 50 IQ Points meets Melrose Place template that it seems to have established for itself, right down to the initiation of The Combinatorial Peer Group Sex Algorithm that leads to the need to import new characters solely for the purpose of having a character that hasn’t fucked every other character.
Despite its stupidity, the show’s pretty and fun to watch. And it’s novel to finally see gay or bisexual or omnisexual characters actually acting that way.
Well, maybe I’m fanwanking a bit, but part of the problem is we’ve got a 51st century guy who can handle the whole team emotionally and sexually, but the rest of the team, however hip, is still 21st century. They can’t quite keep up, and CPT Jack is kinda dealing with emotional kids.
