Anyone know if Direct TV offers Starz? Is it free or a premium channel like Showtime?
Starz is a premium channel that will cost an additional monthly fee if you don’t have a package that already includes it. Looking on Direct TV’s website, it’s $12.99 per month. (Time Warner has it as $14.95.)
Which make me wonder, has there been any other TV series that started on basic cable and then moved **to **a premium pay channel?
I’m lukewarm about all this , thanks to CoE. It’d be great to see John and Eve (aka Jack and Gwen) again, but without the others? Ehhh…
I’m also afraid that this Starz/BBC mashup is going to do something that won’t sit well with me. What that is, I can’t say. Another reason to be on the fence.
Not that I’m aware of. A few shows (like Stargate) have moved the other way.
Might be worth it to mention that if Spartacus is any indicator, it’s possible that Netflix will have current Torchwood episodes available on its Watch Instantly service, which is free with its $9.99 DVD-by-mail subscription. Starz has a deal with Netflix and as I said, that’s what they did with Spartacus – they made them available as the season progressed.
Here’s a recent story: Torchwood star can’t wait to start new series - Wales Online
It doesn’t give away much plot, but it does say Eve Myles (Gwen) will be living in North America for 7 1/2 months.
I doubt the Church of England will have much to do with it.
A bit late, but it’s $8.99.
I wonder which Quatermass story they’re going to pinch this time. Unless they’re going back to the ‘no story arc’, ‘no script bible’ shambles that was series two.
Some new characters for next season.
Rex Matheson, Caucasian, late 20s, CIA agent. Clever and ruthless with a sense of humor. Like him or loathe him, you can’t miss him.
Esther Katusi, any ethnicity except Caucasian, early 20s, CIA watch analyst. Determined to better herself, her faith in mankind is sustained by her own Christianity. She’s in love with Rex Matheson, though she’d never tell him. More than capable of thinking for herself, she can break the rules when she needs to.
Oswald Jones, late 40s, a convicted murderer and pedophile. No thug, he’s dangerously clever. Oswald finds himself becoming a media celebrity and he’s sharp enough to profit from it. He appears to be genuinely repentant, but underneath, he’s still boiling with rage.
Very early stages, everything subject to change.
That’s all very well, but which one gets to wear the tight leather pants?
I think Torchwood needs a second off-world character as a regular.
Probably everybody but Oswald.
Update: When “Torchwood” returns next summer for “The New World,” the omnisexual time agent will find his government entity established by Queen Victoria to be nothing more than legend, with some interest coming from a couple of Americans who are trying to stop the latest worldwide crisis caused by aliens.
I’m 80% sure this is a woosh, but I’ll bite anyway: CoE = Children of Earth, the last Torchwood miniseries.
And as for Torchwood being on Starz – drat! I’m not going to increase my DirecTV bill just for Torchwood, so I guess I’ll have to wait for it to come out on Netflix.
