I was hoping some 'dopers who are Total War fans could recommend (and link to) some decent Mods. I’m considering re-loading Medieval TW II on my laptop but I’ve played through all the times and factions in the original and expansion pack and would like something new to play. Unfortunately, unlike Rome TW the modding community doesn’t seem to be as organized and while I’ve found a couple of decent looking mods I have no idea how good (or not so good) they are. Also unlike Rome TW there doesn’t seem to be any expectation of a Total Realism mod for MTW II any time in the near future.
So 'dopers and fans of the game…any suggested mods you liked?

p.s. I REALLY wish more details were available for the Empire TW game that they are currently working on. I’m guessing this game MIGHT be out next year sometime based on the fact that no one seems to have much in the way of details about it beyond some basic screen shots and a few general details from the company.
Well, the Total Realism mod hasn’t come out for Medieval 2 yet, so I’m cool with the new Total War game being delayed. The last Total Realism patch was like getting a new game for free. And a really sweet game, too.
AFAIK (and I could be wrong) they have pretty much dropped the TR mod for MTWII at this point. I’m not sure what all the issues are but I don’t think we’ll be seeing it before the new game comes out…if ever.
I was looking at a 16th century warfare mod but it says it’s a beta and it hasn’t been updated in a while. Like I said, it’s like the mod community has gotten tired of Total War and really isn’t doing much with the latest version. Most of the mods out there are for Rome…and they all seem to be a bit long in the tooth.
I’ve played and liked Stainless Steel mod. The Kingdom of Heaven loading screens were a little :rolleyes: but otherwise I thought it added quite a bit, and most of it along the same quality as what could be expected from RTR.
I looked into that, actually. If I understand correctly, there was the usual mod community drama/inactivity that led to both the RTR and the MTW2 TR teams having problems. So they decided to join forces, and take RTR to ver. 7.0, and then later on go back to MTW2 TR.
Right? So, they’re modding away on a game that’s pretty much already modded perfectly (Rome) while MTW2 rots in a sea of suck. Oh well.
Do you have links to either mod mentioned? At this point I’ll play anything that works that someone from these parts recommends.
As to the TR version of MTW2, that’s pretty much the way I heard it to. No idea why anyone would go beyond v6.0 Gold for TR of Rome…it was pretty much perfect. A hell of a lot better than even the original game which rocked at the time it was released.
