Saw this over at The Daily Squee
Filmed at a camp in Bwindi National Park, Uganda. A troop of gorillas wanders through and starts interacting with one of the men.
Worth the time and bandwidth to watch in HD and full screen.

If you look closely, you’ll notice the silverback signing “he’s got a purdy mouth.”
I would be needing a new pair of drawers after having a silverback sitting 30cm behind me for a couple of minutes.
HIJACK: How common are gorilla-on-tourist fatalities?
That was amazing. Thanks for posting it.
Wow. Agreed.
Watching this I was thinking that the adult gorillas were taking the young uns to see the tame humans.
I can’t believe the guy was just smiling through it all. I’d have been silently weeping and possibly soiling myself.
It was an awesome video though, thanks for posting it.
After looking around on google I don’t seem to be finding anything about any tourists being killed by gorillas. This story about some gorillas possibly dying of an infection brought in by tourists makes it sound like, as usual, humans are far more dangerous to them than they are to us. ![]()
But, yeah, knowing how powerful a silverback gorilla is, I’d be very afraid if I had one come that close to me as well even if there aren’t any documented cases of gorillas killing tourists.
That goes down as one of my all time favorite videos! Simply awesome!
“We had a moment!”
The only attacks I found were almost all in zoos. Understandable. In the wild, gorillas are generally quite shy unless you engage in behavior they see as challenging.
Fucking hell! That was awesome!
I like that little scene at 2:45…“Don’t touch that, junior, you don’t know where it’s been.”
*Hello.
Hello.
How’s your species today?
Evolving. And yours?
Analytical.
Well, time to forage. Have a nice existance.
Yes, nice interacting with you. You too. *
If it’s your life’s work, it must be pretty thrilling. Was the purpose of the camp to study gorillas? I know they said that gorillas come through a few times a year but I wasn’t sure if that’s the whole reason that they were there…
And the little glance back at 5:11…“That’s right. You’re submissive. Remember that.”
emailed to parents, thanks runner pat!
An acquaintance from years back had a similar although less dramatic experience. He an his wife were on vacation and a silverback wandered through, paused, and placed his hand on her shoulder. He had pics but no video.
That was just incredible. Thanks for posting it, Runner Pat.

Wow. Totally awesome. People in the midst.
