When I recently watched the Matrix on video tape I heard what sounded like telephone touch tones beeping for about 3 seconds. I have heard these before other video tapes as well. They happen as soon as the video begins to play before any picture at all all has come to the screen. Does anybody know what they are there for?
You used to get something similar on audio tapes back in the late eighties early nineties, but they seem to have stopped now. They’re apparently some sort of recording/sound level test. The real trendies and audio nuts used them to set their sound levels to perfection, though I’m not certain that this is why they were included. More likely just a hangover from the recording process.
