I could use some recommendations for toys for my 21 year old cousin. Any “must have” toys for that age (of course he probably has them but…) .
Well, I’d say a 21 y.o. might not be comfortable calling them “toys”, but:
PS2
X-Box
Whats your budget?
MP3 player. If he has a CD player, an MP3/CD player seems to be the best bet. I love mine.
Legos.
I kid you not, man. My baby brother’s favorite gift when he was about that age was the big Lego Pirate Ship.
I post my vote for anything Sims related. Either that or an iPod.
Strippers
Beer?
Just kidding. Sort of.
Speaking as someone in that age bracket… CD(s)? Maybe movies or DVDs? I would never have any objection to gift certificates, either – for any of the above, or for a restaurant, or a general mall gift certificate, or anything else.
Does he have a car? Maybe a gas card, where you pay the first month or $X or whatever…
Depends on his lifestyle really. I’m 19, in college and since i’m always moving around it’d be great to have some sort of portable music. In particular I believe the 2 current best --by far-- mp3 players would be the Creative Nomad Zen and the Apple Ipod.
The gas card idea would be good. Seriously adds up when you’re in college and have no real source of income.
-How about a gift certificate to a “CD/Game Exchange” type-store.
-High quality Poker chips and a few decks of Bicycle or Bee cards.
-Prepaid gas card.
A doll.
Life-size.
The kind that you inflate.
I think this thread is a strange parody of this other one… “toys for my 18 mo old nephew”
http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=146883
The OP is almost identical to the other one. I think he’s trying to make the point that asking for toy ideas for a 21 year old is just as pointless as asking for toy ideas for an 18 month old. There’s a solid basis for parody here, but I’m not sure it worked as well as it could have.
When I was 21, my parents gave me a Nerfoop™ for Christmas. Still have it on my door 12 years later, although I had to replace the ball (my cat ate the first one).
Lately, though, my thing has been lightsabers. They’re cool, they light up and make special effects sounds, and you can whack furniture and pets and pretend you’re a Jedi. I’m hoping I get the purple one for Christmas this year, assuming I don’t just go out and get it myself before then.
Just saw an ad in Sharper Image for cool electronic drumsticks for only twenty bucks.
They are regular, battery operated drumsticks that have speakers built in and can be set to different sounds.
I haven’t seen them personally, or tried them out, but what guy wouldn’t like a loud noise and holding something thick and long in his hands - as well as annoy parents or roomates?
Legos are a cool idea.
Or how about one of those mini radio-controlled cars?
Since the other post was started first…this one must be making fun of the other, right? The phrase “must have” in both threads is too apparent…
Hell, get them both the same gift!
How 'bout a set of 38DD’s to play with?.
