Toys gone by

I have looked everywhere for one of those pound boards that you, and possibly every child, had when they were children. You know those plastic boards with the pegs that you pound down and then turn over and pound them down again. I have looked everywhere for one for my son. I heard they discontinued them for safety reasons. My godness, if parents would supervise their children in play there would be no big danger. My son has been hammering on everything around the house and he needs an appropriate place to hammer.

Discovery Toys has something along the lines of what you’re looking for. I can’t link directly to it, but it’s called “Hammer Away!”

I agree! I had one of those as a little kid. My parents hated the endless racket I made with it but were happy that I was pounding a TOY and not something actually dangerous.

Toys should never be a substitute for supervision. Anything is dangerous for a child if they’re not watched.

What I believe you’re looking for is the Playskool Cobbler’s Bench.

I see one on Ebay, but there’s only three pegs left with it.

I used to have one of these as a kid; it was great.

I bet there’s been many different versions of the same concept. I don’t know which kind the OP was looking for but the one I recall having was (probably made by Playskool as well) made out of plastic and rainbow colored. It was a workbench.

Yes that is what I was talking about! The plasic rainbow colored thing. Grandma’s house had the old wooden one that I played with but don’t know what ever happened to it either.
