Toys you enjoy

Two Christmas’s ago I was playing with Lego MindStorm (robotic discovery kit) and I think I blew 38 hours in one week playing with the thing. What do the teeming millions play with that was meant for youngsters?

I got a yo-yo for Christmas as a joke this year. It’s transparent yellow with dead killer bees trapped inside. I played with it every spare moment for about 3 weeks. I still pull it out when I have some free time. I’m finally learning some decent tricks - woohoo!

Well, about 4 years ago I quit asking for clothing or appliances for Christmas or my B’day.
Now I just ask for toys , and have been pretty successful with it.
I love my lite-brite (never had one as a kid), as a matter of fact, its on right now.
My other favorite toys are my Merlin(never had one as a kid, either),rubik’s cubeand (shamefully) a baby Furby.
Oh, and there’s this one I’m typing on right now…

Me:You know, the kids really need a computer…
Hubby:…sure…

Gotta love silly putty, had it as a kid and have some now!!

We are, each of us angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by embracing one another

Capsela and Robotix. I could build those things for days…

I’m 29, and I still like to play with Legos. In fact, I got a huge space shuttle kit for Christmas a few years ago. My 5 year old daughter always wants to help me, but gaddamnit, she can get her own freakin’ kit!!! I mean, I don’t go around trying to play with all her Barbies, do I. OK, so sometimes I do ;). But she should at least have some respect for her elders. Sheesh, kids these days.

Look, it’s people like you what cause unrest.

Well, I don’t know if I still qualify as a youngster 'cause I’m seventeen, but I went to the stationary store last week to buy some fountain pen ink cartridges and there was some Silly Putty right there. I bought a package on impulse, and I love the stuff.

Hey isn’t it the 50th anniversary of Silly Putty? I love legos. They never had any of cool toys like that when I was a kid.

I really try to be good but it just isn’t in my nature!

I always wanted a “Light Bright” :frowning: I guess my parents didn’t love me :frowning:

Anyway, I love my Buzz and Woody dolls. I have a Furby. I have a little remote control robot/alien thing called a “Weebot” that is so much fun to play with.
My goal is that, by the time we decide to have kids, we won’t have to buy too many toys, because we’ll already have them all.

Still waiting for the “Light Bright”…

FINALLY a serious topic!!

I’ve got a slinky, one that is orange, and one metal one. A Santa furby that is almost always asleep. A gun that when you shoot it, it only makes weird noises. A Y2K bug, that when you slam him on the counter, you hear breaking glass, he’s my favorite!! Two stuffed bears, and tickle-me-Elmo, who sits in my car always wearing his seatbelt. Chilly Willy sits up on the dashboard keepin’ watch over everyone.

Pocket Pikachu.

I gotta vote for Legos myself. But I asked for toys at Xmas, and I got a big set of K’Nex. I spent two whole days building the ball machine, and it stayed set up in my living room for about a month before my wife made me take it down. One of these weekends, I’m gonna build the Ferris wheel.

ooohh… toys.

I bought some silly putty the other day - it changes colors as the heat of your hands warms it up.
I have these little bendy guys (wire and magnets) on my desk that I got in my stocking this Christmas. Called a Joe Bender. Cool for posing in bizarre theatrics.
I bought my son a construction set - it’s a bit strange: has plastic bones, claws antenaes, insect body parts, wings, and little joints to build freaky beings. Can’t remember the name. He’s not really old enough for it yet, but he has fun anyway.

Can’t wait until he’s old enough for Robotix.

My kid’s got a bunch of little toy Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars, courtesy of Grandma. I play with them every chance I get, they are great stress relievers sometimes. I had a cool Matchbox car collection when I was a kid and the Navy lost it all when my Dad got ordered back Stateside. I was heartbroken.

I took one of his Matchbox cars, a little Jeep, to work yesterday to play with. He’s got about a hundred so he won’t miss one. He can only count to eleven anyway.

I play with a Playstation and a Rubik Cube.

I’d probably play with Legos if I had any from my childhood. I’m a Lego purist; I don’t like using the overly-specialized shapes.

There’s a huge Lego store in Potomac Mills outlet mall in Virginia. They have large scale models of the White House, US Capitol, Jefferson Memorial, and the Lincoln Memorial set up, all out of regular Legos.

Wrong thinking is punished, right thinking is just as swiftly rewarded. You’ll find it an effective combination.

LEGOS!

I have several huge tupperware containers full of legos. I also have a pirate ship that I put together with super glue sitting on a wall shelf. It looks pretty cool.

Spirograph! That was the best toy ever. I can’t wait to have kids so I can justify having one again.

Mt. Dew habit kicked since 2/21/00!

What walks downstairs
Alone, or in pairs
And makes a slinkity sound?
A spring!
A spring!!
A marvelous thing!
Everyone knows its Slinky!

Damn I love those things and the wonderfull sound that thay make when you swoosh them between two hands. And that hypnotic moire’ pattern the coils make. Zen Toy.

The metal ones are better than the plastic ones, despite the threat of rust.

Two words: Pokémon Snap.

I’ll get that shot of Starmie if it kills me.

I love PlayMobil toys – Little 3 1/2" plastic figures that come with all kinds of tiny accessories. I have a pirate (with sword and sword belt, gun, hat with feather, keg of rum with spigot and stand, a pitcher and four glasses), a ghost (with sheet and ball and chain) and a Neptune (with crown, net and pitchfork) on my desk at work, and everybody who goes by plays with and arranges them.

I went to get a new one and found my supplier had stopped carrying them and was down to a few scuba divers and Indians. Sigh. Now I’ll have to find a new source.
