Trading Spaces 6/21, or Ty Who?

I usually avoid the weekly TS thread as lately they degenerate into snark-fests way too fast (a good snark-fest every now and then is refreshing, but every week is too TwoP-ish for my tastes), but I had to ask the couple of knowledgable fans who post here whether Ty or Amy is out or scaling back on shows or are they expanding the shooting schedule and needed a third “carpenter”.

Did they have to get another male model though? Also he initially was trying way too hard for the “Ty” effect. I was waiting for him to nail his hand to the board- he definitely reminds me of Andrew on “While you were out”-- pure eyecandy with just enough knowledge to muck around on screen. He is a handsome bastard though, I have to admit- I can see why the ladies are swooning (do people still swoon?).

Obligitory show related comments:

I liked both rooms. Frank really saved that screwy fireplace. Laurie took a risk with those colors, but they paid off in the end. Frank sweated through another shirt- he has a Ripken-esk streak of shows in which he completely soaks his shirt in sweat going.

I agree with the designers, death to cheap white builder grade ceiling fans.

From the first show- A mural of yourself? Yeesh.

Thanks in advance for any info on the reasons for the new addition to the show.

I heard they’re doing 85 shows next year, so they needed another carpenter.

As for the first show, I always thought that mural looked more like Mary Tyler Moore tha Hildi. But yeah, she’s full of herself, isn’t she?

I say eww to all and sundry room designs from Saturday. Well, actually, whichever wasn’t Hildi on the first show might have been nice, but it certainly wasn’t memorable, because I can’t remember it.

On the other hand, that new carpenter is a damn fine looking man. My heart still belongs to Handy Andy, who is both cute and a good carpenter, but new boy is head and shoulders above Ty, who, despite his spectacular abs, is only mildly attractive and is also a total clown.

Wow, what a change. Rather than designing a room to match her hair, Laurie designed the room to match… her shirt. Or did nobody else notice that the colours she picked did not actually match the print, but they did EXACTLY match her blouse?

I tuned her out after she explained in detail for the second time how the color scheme on the striped fabric was going to go in the room.

You’re right, it’s a Hildi-ism.

She did a basement playroom, where she painted these blue lines on a white surface in a plaid pattern. Only it wasn’t plaid, it was “orthogonal.” It was a lot of work, and I think they ended up using a sprayer to get all the painting done, and it didn’t turn out fabulous.

Remember, it’s “orthogonal,” not plaid.

She did that last week, too, with the Zinnia-painted room. Her blouse had all the same colors as the room.
