Crazy God Lady vs. Racist Guy
I wouldn’t be surprised if they kill each other before the show’s over. I can’t believe how much of a jerk the husband’s being. Why’d he even sign up for the show (besides the cash of course)? He certainly isn’t helping his “cause”.
Adabissi is an asshole. At this point I’m hoping that whatever Marguerite does with their money he won’t see a dime.
Yea, I know what you mean. I never thought that the God Warrior could be cast in such a sympathetic light.
This guy’s an asshole and a jerk. I’m no God Warrior fan, but I felt bad for her. For someone who has a role in the local media he has no idea how horrible he looks. I feel bad for his wife, who is doing a really nice job walking the walk in helping the Katrina people. What a fucking embarrassment.
I’m amazed that the friend and sister didn’t call his ass out for showing his ass like that. How hard is it to be civil? Surely he knew the God Warrior’s rep before the show started. He might have decided not to do the show.
I guess the guy likes being controversial, because he just bought himself a whole boatload of negative publicity. I can empathize with his frustration in talking with GW, but there’s no need for that.
Dammit, I forgot to watch the second week. I saw the thread and tuned in just in time to watch the families distribute the money.
How do you feel about Marguerite giving the bulk of the $50K to Shac?
I wonder how closely the show monitors the actual spending, if they do it at all.
I loved how she gave him an Aretha cd. Margeurite has a future on tv, for sure.
She’s taking her meds. I gave up on her last week.
Actually, I think maybe he knows how horrible he looks. It’s part of the militant mindset to scare people. He reminds me of militant Black Panthers back in the 60s. Its same same for the KKK and other militant bigots. They know they look bad. They want to. It attracts the kind of people they want to be around them.
Adabasi was a prick. I didn’t buy his apology at all. But I was glad his friends seemed to be reasonable people. They seemed embarrassed about him.
Out of Toya and Marguerite, I liked Toya the best, though. Her politics are far left of mine, and she could be self-righteous at times, but she seemed like a nice person I could get along with. I can’t relate to Marguerite that much, though. She doesn’t seem like a mean person, but I think her la-di-da, I-don’t-think-about-race mentality would grate on my nerves too. But Adabasi was still a dumb prick.
I don’t understand why Marguerite reacted the way she did to Toya’s letter. She was generous to everyone except for Ashley–who doesn’t need anything but a good kick in the ass. The “string” she attached to Marguerite’s money didn’t seem rude to me. I saw it as a reward for accomplishing her weight loss goals, which I assume she learned about through the family. It’s not like Toya said the woman was a fat pig or something (because Toya could stand to lose some pounds too). I think Marguerite was snarky for no reason.
On the other hand, I thought Toya and Adabasi were jerks for not appreciating Marguerite’s gifts to their daughter. If little Shokmah doesn’t keep up with the piano lessons, then they can sell the thing, right? Or one of them could take it up. I don’t understand how you can complain about a gift like that.
This was the first time I watched this trading spouses program, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Yea, I seriously don’t get the whole “I don’t notice race” thing that so many people say. To not care is one thing, but to not notice? I didn’t agree with tying all of the money up until the little girl reached eighteen. A portion of it, yes, but her life could be improved *now * too. Too bad they don’t have update shows, because I’d like to know what Toya thought about her husband’s behavior. She seemed taken aback when she heard how rude he was, so maybe he’s not usually such a jerk.
Toya’s letter rubbed me the wrong way. The little digs about Brooke needing to learn how privileged she was, and the father needing to find a job weren’t necessary. I did like how she ignored her husband’s pouting and focused on her daughter. She was a cute kid. Maybe her father won’t rub off on her.
