So basically you’re saying that the cop won’t warn you about the consequences of non-compliance, he or she will just immediately attack you like a demented ape?
Wow, I didn’t even see that first time through. All that from a phoney standard that no driver could pass.
It really shows my main point that there is no training. They pull over who ever they want and then use that so called standard later to justify whatever happens after that. If you protest, you get the pkbites treatment.
“I don’t know what world you live in, but this kind of thing happens every day to inocent people in mine.”
I know people that live in your world - and am friends with them - and they get pulled over quite often “for no reason”.
I have no love of cops. The fact that the cop may have made a mistake didn’t occur to you (or you didn’t mention it) says to me you view this a certain way - and aren’t willing to see he may have thought he saw you (and you seem to suggest you did go over the line). Yes - I weave - and I don’t even consider myself a good driver, but I don’t get pulled over.
As someone who has actually sued a cop before - you are right - some lie, but there simply is no reason to when they pull you over. They have shit to do - 95% of them arent looking to pull people over - they are working. People seem to think every cop they pass is looking to pull them over. They can’t - they are on their way to calls and stuff. At least that is the way it is here.
I know you believe you were wrongly pulled over, but it just doesn’t make sense - you really think he couldn’t find someone who was breaking a law? And just thought - ill pull that guy over? Not saying it never has happened, just saying it sounds crazy.
Will cops lie/omit info to get a warrant?
Yes
Will cops lie in court about what someone said?
Yes (assuming they “know” he is guilty)
Will they pull over some random person
No - just doesn’t make any sense for even the most corrupt cop to do so.
There are so many better things you could abuse being a cop - pulling over random people isn’t one of them.
I’m sorry but I have to disagree, and I think pkbites explained why. Most cops look for any excuse to pull a person over, so they themselves can abuse power. You can just tell from his post that he is looking to “put someone on their ass”. He is pretty much bragging about it and his love for it oozes out of that post.
It’s only going to get worse as police departments hire more and more ex-millitary. They will be looking for any reason to pull you over just to exercise their power over another person. We will all be treated as the enemy.
It will all be justified by standards.
Well you are certainly allowed to - hey I could be wrong, and you make good points about his post, but if you read it carefully - that has to do with stuff AFTER someone was pulled over.
I have no doubt that some will make up stuff at that point to justify a search, delaying tactics to get a dog there, whatever.
Up until the time you are pulled over - I just don’t see a reason for them to bend or break the rules.
Maybe you are right - there is a subset that wants to just get off on power conflicts with random people. I accept that as a possibility, but that is some weird fetish thing - not police work. They are only furthering their own goals - and not the departments. I wasn’t talking about that and it never really occurred to me as I think they could still get a power trip going against suspected criminals. I am pretty sure this would be a very small minority.
Bolding mine.
Considering the forum in which this thread appears, I think I’m going to have to demand a cite to support your claim about “most cops” pulling people over so they can abuse their power. I’d also like to hear some justification for your assertions about ex-military police officers.
