Unfortunately, all but one of the people I have known who live in trailer parks have pretty much fit the stereotype. The one who didn’t was a single guy who worked in a factory and lived there to save up some money for a house. I think he only lived there for a year or two. I remember that he always complained about his neighbors and their “white trash” ways.
When visiting, it wasn’t uncommon to see babies running around barefoot and wearing only a diaper, or people with cars jacked up in front of their trailer, blaring Lynard Skynard and drinking PBR. You could always hear people screaming and arguing, and according to my buddy, sometimes they took it out to the street and actually fought.
They had a pay phone that was in the middle of the park, and there was always a line because very few of the people had a phone in their trailer. One that I went in was as filthy as you can imagine. Cat shit everywhere, trash all over the place, and dirty little kids running wild.
I think it’s more a factor of poverty than it is that they happen to live in a trailer. Some people just aren’t raised properly and don’t know how to act. A lot of the poor folks I’ve known kind of fall into that category. I’m sure not all trailer parks are like the ones I’ve visited.
