Transfer programs from my Dish Hopper DVR to a DVD?

I’ve got recordings on my Hopper that I’d like to transfer to DVD. I guess I’m looking for a device to connect to my Windows 7 PC so I can burn DVDs. I also have some of these programs on my external HD connected to the Hopper.

Dies anyone know if the format Dish uses on the external drive (Western Digital) is able to be read by a PC?

Suggestions are welcome.

I use a TiVo which allows this (with restrictions). Here’s some info on Dish’s Hopper…

Thanks for the link Ants. Interesting that it’s seems to be kind of Linux.

Couldn’t I hook one of these Elgato Video Capture, Capture analog video for your Mac or PC, iPad and iPhone, white https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0029U2YSA/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_plRMvbYMPV5CH
or similar to the output of the Hopper and record on the pc in real time? I’d think the Hopper would just see it as a TV.

If you want to get full HD output via HDMI, you need a little gizmo to take care of the HDCP issue. Cheap and easily available from major online retailers. AVS Forums is the best place for more info about that.

I’ve got a cheapo DVD recorder from Walmart to burn DVDs. It cost about $50 or so. Might go that route if all else fails.

It’s not Blu ray though is it? It might be good enough though.
