My Samsung Galaxy s2 is on its last leg. Got a deal on an iPhone 6. I see phone transfer apps online. I tried one (Android File Transfer) and I don’t know what the heck I’m doing. Yes, I connected both phone to my Mac, then clicked and copied the files I want onto my computer, but how to I get these on my new phone? Plus Android File Transfer doesn’t transfer contacts. I basically want my contacts, texts messages and a couple games apps I’m kicking ass in on my new phone.
Talk me through it like I was in first grade. I iz stupid with dis stuff.
Games: Re-buy them if they are available on Google Play. If not, you’re out of luck. You might email the devs and ask if you can get a discount since you already bought the iOS version. Indie devs might do that. Bigger developers won’t give a shit.
I just asked about transferring a couple games because I’m on level 352 or some such number and I don’t want to play if I have to start over. I’m just finding it difficult to stop when I’m on a serious roll.
You’re probably logged in to most of those games with your Facebook account. Go to the preferences/settings screens in each game and you should be able to see what account you’re under. If you created an account with the game publishers, you shouldn’t have much trouble logging back in either. Both ways, your achievements should transfer over.
IF it’s the kind of game that stores progress with your facebook account or the game developer’s own game save system, then that might work.
Unfortunately, most of the games I play do not have saves that are compatible between Apple devices and Android devices ( I speak from experience here). Even with considerable goofing around with root access, Apple saves are considered ‘corrupted’ by the Android copy of the game. Nothing to do but start over.
You can back up your text messages to the cloud (Dropbox, etc.) using something like the free Android app SMS Backup & Restore and then restore the texts to the new phone. Probably your phone service company can back up texts, too.
