Travel advice needed for short trip to New York

I’ve got a very short trip coming up for New York. Basically, I’m flying into La Guardia on Tuesday, have a meeting north of New York on the Wednesday, then fly back to Paris from Newark on Thursday evening.

The meeting location is here , 25 miles north of the city.

Can anyone recommend a hotel that would allow good access to the venue and the two airports, but still give me a chance of a Friday morning trip into the city? Or is a 25 mile journey north something I could do from a central hotel? If so, which would you recommend. My budget is @ $350 a night, but I can go higher if there’s a decent reason.

I’ll defer to anyone who’s done more business travel in NYC, but I would think anywhere in Midtown would be most convenient, both to the airports and the Grand Central (if you’re taking a train to Westchester). But anywhere in Manhattan would be okay, especially if you’re taking a car service to Hawthorne, the hotel should be able to help you plan the trip.

I would stay in Midtown somewhere… It sounds like you are going to have some free time, so why not be in the middle of it all?

The only downside is that you’ll have to give yourself lots of time to get to Newark, as the Lincoln tunnel will be very slow in the late afternoon and early evening.

Thanks for the advice. So I can stay central, train it to Westchester, but need to leave in good time for Newark.

Sounds like a plan.

Just make sure the facility you are going to is accessable via Metro-North (the commuter rail for Westchester). Call the facility and ask.

Here’s the MetroNorth stop at Hawthorne, on the blue Harlem line.

Looks like a couple of miles in a cab.
