Hey does anyone know if it is still possible to travel by ship from western england (Ireland) to new york? And back. I have scoured the net and all that comes up are cruise lines. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Why decry cruise ships. There are regular repositioning cruises between Southampton and New York.

I also see several connections, eg. Liverpool and Philadelphia on this site: Trans-Atlantic Passenger Sailings [The Cruise People Ltd]

It looks as if it is pretty popular though Notice: Most westbound sailings from Europe are sold out until September but eastbound space is still available from the USA

Alternatively, I am reliably informed that there are organisations that will ship you across inside a container.

Many thanks Bob, much appreciated!

Ireland isn’t in Western England.

I took it to mean (Ireland?) as an alternative.

Northern USA (Canada) - Southern USA (Mexico)
