I just got a sweet deal to get to London for Sunday morning to Friday morning. But my question is with the Jubilee celebration, how bad will it be? Will museums be overwhelmed? Any slow down on the underground?
I have zero interest in seeing the palaces or any of the government/monarchy locations, but obviously many of the museums and Westminster Abbey are going to be affected due to vicinity, so how bad will it be?
My guess, and it it a guess, is that if you avoid places with specific events you should be fine. Details here. It will all be over after Tuesday. More pertinent is that it is half-term week so expect stressed out parents trying to keep kids entertained while they are not at school.
The museums look like they should be open, and actually they’re not that near to the debacle, so I’d suggest going there while all the parents and children are at the Jubilee parades or whatever the hell is happening. You’ll still have to queue. It’s a shame for you that you’re having to come during half term. The Tube should be OK, if busy, but don’t count on buses running as scheduled.
Personally I’m heading out of town, and indeed the country, for the occasion. I paid for it, but that doesn’t mean I have to watch it!
