Trembling during and/or after exercise

What is the cause?

One of these:

Low water, sugar, sodium, potassium. These are common problems, but not all the possibilities.

Three reasons:

  1. Muscle fatigue (trembling is a normal response to muscle fatigue - try holding a weight in your outstrectched arm)

  2. The direct effect of adreanlin (released during exercise) on the muscles

  3. Increased blood flow to the muscles (leading to bounding pulses)

Sometimes when playing sports, I’ll quite suddenly become ravenously starving, and will experience some muscle quiver. (I’ve been told that this is due to a sugar imbalance.)

My solution is to eat two or three Power Bars and drink a pint of Gatorade. After about 20 minutes, I’m ready to get back on the field.

When I started doing yoga I was pretty out of shape, and whenver I tried a strenuous pose (eg Downward Dog) I trembled uncontrollably to the point that I seriously worried about falling over.

With practice, though, it got better - after only a week or two. I think it was just a result of making demands on muscles that weren’t accustomed to it.
