Trespassing

Yeah, it was pretty funny.
He was hung up in mid body. Are those Mercs front-wheel drive? His front was in midair and he was rocking…

I assume a Mercedes muffler system and catalytic converter are not cheap.

Not to mention the body all along the bottom… (Rocker panels?)

You can get boulders delivered by a landscaping company. The state doesn’t matter.

Placing a sandbox, jungle gym, etc in your yard would act as lil kid magnets, drawing them from the surrounding neighborhood. People hate getting lil kid all over their cars.

… and if you park your white van (with puppies in it) near the end of the driveway it might discourage the other drivers.

Use landscaping blocks to make curbs on the sides of your driveway at the street so that you will know if you’re going off of the driveway as you turn into the street. They will also act as speed bumps for anyone who wants to drive sideways across the drive. Have the delivery truck drop the blocks off at the corner and leave them there until you get around to doing the job.

Ever jurisdiction is different. But I can say in mine this is in no way tresspassing. Most likely it’s on the public right of way anyway. I’m sure it’s a motor vehicle violation. You also might want to check your local laws. In some areas it is not legal to place objects on your property that can cause damage or injury to drivers if they go off the road. The government can put up barriers but you can’t. There was a story about that a little while ago. I think it was here. And I that case the cars kept hitting the house, not running over part of the lawn.

My neighbors have used boulders with a great deal of success. Even the street plows now stay on the street in winter. It is not illegal in my town.

If you go with shrubs, plant large ones as the small ones will be run over quickly.

Use metal rebar as support posts for the shrubs. Hammer 2 feet into the ground, leave 2 feet sticking up.

Wow. If a driver did that, I’d probably take a picture of his or her license plate and seriously pursue them - in court. Hopefully no one has the gall to do that in my area.

Here’s a picture of my issue. I don’t know why I said there were traffic lights in the OP but the problem is the same. My memory must be failing me; I can’t even remember that there are no traffic lights outside my home.

In any case, you can see that there is no dedicated turn lane and no curb. In the picture traffic is pretty light but in the afternoon rush hour traffic can get really backed up - a dozen or so cars long - and people will cut right across my lawn and driveway to make a right turn .

Pretty much what I was going to add, but suggest metal fence posts and some wirearound the plants,

Well, there goes the fence idea. Can’t obscure the stop sign!

Where I’m now living, I own the property up to the road; but I would not be able to build a structure, such as a fence or paved area, hard against the road. I need five feet between the street and a structure. It looks like you’re in the same situation. Only I’m at the top of a T-intersection. Nobody drives on my yard.

Anyway, if the rules are the same or similar where you are, you can’t block that part of your yard, and you can’t stop people from driving on that two-foot strip. In effect, I think it only belongs to you on paper. Practically, the city owns it for people to drive on.

Like I said - put an 18-inch high ridge of grass to continue the fence. Put another nice little hill between the pole and the stop sign… or have the stop sign moved (in the middle of the night? Over a foot or so?) so that there is not a car space between stop sign and pole.

I vote for fence, shrubs and/or decorative boulders running from the tree to the lightpost parallel to the driveway. Make the drivers squeeze between the stop sign and the lightpost.

I’d favor a line of small shrubs (with spikes, oooooh - cactus) on the street side and small boulders on the driveway side.

From the looks of it, everything from the fence/lightpost line to the street may be a public easement.

That’s the phrase I was looking for!

How about a moat with sharks. Sharks with lasers. That’s about as helpful as most of the suggestions.

What is going on is not even close to being trespassing. Now that I look at the picture it is obvious that it is part of the public easement. I would doubt that your local government would like it very much it you put barriers that would damage a car or injure a driver.

I would not go with shrubs. You would need to plant big ones in order for them to do any good right away. That can be expensive if there is one guy who is distracted or drunk. Get those plastic driveway posts. Like this. If someone hits it no damage and no lawsuit. And you are only out a couple bucks. It should keep most if not all the people from driving there.

Hire a digger and dig a ditch. Build a low (1’) wall with the foundations in the ditch and use the spoil from the ditch to build a low bank facing your house against that wall. Then plant it up.

The part streetside of the lampost sure, but the impression i get is that they go inside of the lampost and use his driveway. That cant be public easement.
