Tri-Tip Recipes (To impress!)!

Ok… I came late to a love of tri-tip and I’ve made the marinaded Trader Joe’s a few times. But never made a marinade/rub recipe for tri tip from scratch and need a good one! But not overly complicated, since I will be making this about 380 miles from my kitchen and the ingredients need to fit in my ice box :).

Any good, fool proof tri-tip recipes out there?

The easiest one is to buy some Susie Q Santa Maria and some red oak. After trimming some of the fat off liberaly coat the tri tip with the susie q and grill over the red oak coals hot enough that you can barely hold your hand at grill height for 5 seconds. It’s the best roast ever.

Depending on your situation this can also be done in the oven by starting out at 450 for 15 minuets and then lowering the temp to 250 for an hour.

Nothing but coarse ground black pepper and garlic salt. Butterfly if you must and grill to taste.

Thanks! Can you get the Susie Q at the store?
