My wife and I are getting settled in our new apartment and we’re starting to hang things on the walls. In particular, we’ve got a few sets of resin wall plaques, like these.
Each plaque has a metal keyhole hanger on the back. Getting the nails, screws, or whatever in the wall level with one another is no problem. What bugs my little obsessive compulsive brain is that each plaque can freely pivot on this one point, and therefore they’ll get out of alignment with regard to one another.
Certainly I’m not the only person in the world who goes crazy over these sorts of things. What’s the trick to hanging sets of items on the wall and keeping them straight?
A small dab of poster putty will keep things in line. Or self adhesive velcro.
3M (and other companies) also make small round self-adhesive “bumpers”. Picture framers often attach them to the back of completed jobs. Hardware stores sometimes sell sheets of them, and they are sometimes used in kitchens to soften the noise of cabinets smacking shut. If you don’t find them in a hardware store stop in a local frame shop. One on each of the lower corners ought to help them stay straight, and also reduces the angle at which they tilt from top to bottom.

A trick I saw in a magazine. Use a pliers to insert a small needle in the back of the picture. Cut off all but a qurter inch or so, then press needle bit into wall.
Ta da!
