A group of three mountains, which are a crest of a ridge in the Bernese Alps in Switzerland, are well-known and among the most distinctive sights of the Swiss Alps. The three mountains, which overlook the Lauterbrunnen Valley, are the Eiger (“the Ogre”), the Jungfrau (“the Virgin” or “the Maiden”), and the Mönch (“the Monk”).
The Eiger Sanction is a 1975 Clint Eastwood film that includes climbing the Eiger north face (or the Eiger-Nordwand , Eigerwand or just Nordwand). The Eiger-Nordwand is the biggest north face in the Alps.

The Three Sisters are the 3rd, 4th, and 5th highest mountains in Oregon. They’re named North, Middle and South -Sister, oddly enough, and are in view of the town of Sisters, Oregon.
Le Troix Tetons (The Three Nipples) are three prominent peaks – Grand Teton, Middle Teton, and South Teton – in the Teton mountain range in northwest Wyoming. Supposedly, they were given this name by French-Canadian trappers who accompanied the earliest British expeditions into this territory. As they approached the range from the west, they beheld three towering mountains, noted their similarity to a certain part of the female anatomy, and named them accordingly.

The royal title “Duke of Edinburgh” was held for many years by Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II. Upon the prince’s death in 2021, the title shifted to his eldest son, Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, but upon the latter’s accession to the British Throne as King Charles III a few weeks ago, it merged in the Crown and is held by no one for now. There have been suggestions that it might be bestowed upon Prince Edward, the King’s youngest brother, but nothing has come of it yet.
John Wayne was nicknamed “The Duke” back when he was a bit player for Republic Pictures. He was given the screen name “Duke Morrison” (his birth name was Marion Morrison), before being called John Wayne. As a youngster, he was always in the company of a pet dog, an Airedale named “Duke”, and neighbors called him “Little Duke.” Wayne is quoted as saying it took a long time to get used to being called John, and still doesn’t recognize it.
“The Duke” is the name of a model of American footballs, produced by Wilson Sporting Goods, and which is used as the official ball of the National Football League.
The model’s name is a reference to Wellington Mara, the son of Tim Mara, founder of the New York Giants football team. The elder Mara, who had named his son after the Duke of Wellington, led the contract between the NFL and Wilson to provide the league’s official ball, and in recognition of this, the ball was named after Mara’s son.
The words “The Duke” were printed on NFL game balls from 1941 until 1969; after the league’s merger with the AFL, the name was removed from the balls. However, after the death of Wellington Mara (who had succeeded his father as president of the Giants) in 2005, the NFL returned to having “The Duke” printed on game balls, as a tribute to him.
Before the baseball Giants moved to San Francisco, New York City had two professional sports teams with that nickname. Other cities who had two teams with the same nickname include St. Louis (football and baseball Cardinals), Boston (football and baseball Braves), and Brooklyn (football and baseball Dodgers).

Michael Palin, one of the members of the Monty Python troupe, has made a second career as the presenter in a series of television travel documentaries.
